If you are in a place of business, demanding people pretend to be your friend because you pay money to a corporation that employs them, you are there for the wrong reasons. Retail is not a service industry, and most of what you believe is just a construct to make people behave like machines. Sure it may seem pleasant to you, to have people act like characters in a daytime drama. But it's not real, and it's not normal. The robot like appearance of the employs you are complaining about, is simply them not agreeing to kiss your ass. So buy your shit and get out, because they are not your friends, and a corporate store front is not a society.

"How are you", "How is your day going?" -

You want strangers to ask you about your feelings? Honestly, think about what it is you are doing. In turn you then expect them to lie to you, and tell you they're feeling great? Amazing. This is a society turned on it's head, where people like you expect strangers to be intimate with you. None of that is any of your business, and neither is your day any of mine when cash is involved.
