I've been reading about this and agree with this thesis. Even if you ignore the obvious evil, global conspiracies to depopulate... there's still a lot of demographic cliffs. These cliffs really haven't occurred before because up until recently children were considered assets towards prosperity. Now they're only seen as liabilities.
