Hear me out, a bit of a different take then I'm seeing...

  • Vegas is a major US city. Never Had a major NFL, MLB, NBA or NHL team, for various reasons
  • The issues sports gambling would create in the city is a reason why..
  • It is crazy considering other major US/CAN cities have sports teams with 100+ yr histories
  • Finally, Vegas is approved for a sports team in 2016. The Las Vegas Golden Knights hockey team in the NHL
  • NHL season always begin in early October
  • The "attack" happens Oct. 1, 2017 -- THE MOST MURDEROUS IN U.S. HISTORY.
  • The Vegas hockey team's schedule is made during the summer of 2017, months before the attack. They are already scheduled to play their first two games on the road. In terms of marketing, this makes no sense at all. A brand new team in a major city... for the first time ever... in Las fucking Vegas... Is the NHL marketing team really dumb enough to miss the chance to open the NHL season with a spectacular show?? A franchise, season & home opener in Las Vegas to kick off the NHL's 100th season??? It is already going to be hard enough making ice hockey in the desert work. The NHL is fighting to be recognized alongside the other 3 major sports in the USA. Maybe... just maybe... they knew something was going to happen in early October... just before they start playing...?
  • The attack happens.
  • Vegas hockey team plays the rest of the season, and reaches NHL Stanley Cup finals in their first season. First time in NHL history a team reaches the finals in their first year. Coincidence?
  • The NHL signs lucrative deals with sports gambling affiliated brands (DraftKings, etc.)
  • In 2018, Vegas gets a WNBA team, and in 2020 the Raiders move from Oakland to Las Vegas in the NFL
  • Las Vegas now has 3 major sports teams.
  • Take this "attack" as a price that was paid, for sports to be allowed to operate in the city of Las Vegas
  • It was finally "Game on!" in Vegas, and they decided they were going to play ball. Whoever "they" are...
