A wrong is an action that harms another sentient being. So of course it is wrong to kill an animal. And no, we do not need to eat meat in the day of modern agriculture and food distribution. Just ask any vegan if they need meat. I'm not saying immediately switch to veganism because that will cause health issues. But you can certainly adjust to a vegetarian and ultimately vegan lifestyle over time.
The William Cooper quote is exactly the justification that the psychopaths running the show use for the harm they cause the general population. They don't see the average person as being truly conscious, so they believe there aren't any karmic repercussions for violating their rights.
