Just an observation, but most of all that's out there are "cool mist" ultrasonic units - that aerosolize whatever contaminants are present in tap water. Coincide that with the shortage of bottled distilled water. Can't find any anywhere... Mostly a rant, but also a concern. Most folks filter tap water, but what's that matter if you're ingesting it thru your lungs from running shoddy tap water thru a chynese made humidifier?

whatever you put in a aresolize unit you're breathing in, so you're breathing in whatever is in the water. You can try distilled water but still, distilled water contains copper, tin, or whatever that comes out of the steel boiler you boil the water in. The best bet would be Reverse Osmosis water which is just as clean as distilled but does not contain heavy metals from the boiling process.
I read a study of a child who drank distilled water had tin poisoning from drinking distilled water. I do believe it because when I had a distiller I would clean the steel boiler everyday and I would always see the napkin extremely dirty looking. Not sure if it was the residual heavy metals from the steel boiler itself or what. I was also not feeling too good after a few weeks of just distilled water. Either way, water is going to grab whatever it can even if it means tin, copper, it will grab anything. I lost confidence in it and stick to only reverse osmosis, but that's a whole other subject of PLASTIC... because the r/o filters are basically plastic membranes and there you are drinking plastic.
So it's either heavy metal toxicity or plastic toxicity.
