The issue is you have such a small array of items in your mental capacity that you end up not able to really understand anything complex.
I suggest one way you can work around it, is to have more intelligent people write you up some point form ideas and you can track them one at a time, if you collect your results and take good notes, at some point you should be able to get a larger picture.

Do rich people have meetings
What do they discuss
Do rich people work together to push their interests
What type of interests could rich people who have everything actually have?
Why do people like other people to do the work for them
What is a slave
What is a resource?
What is an exchange
What is bartering
What is farming
Just some simple items to get you off the ground here, on the way to understanding complex systems used in the modern world.
I think the point is that we're already there and this is just a sideshow to keep us occupied, because we'll never see the people who actually run things, only their henchmen
