I don't remember if I've told the story here before but when I was a kid in the 80s, they sent a cop to our school to fingerprint us. I refused. I told them (cop and teacher) I had done nothing wrong and they would not need my prints. They kept pushing.
I threw a fit and walked out of the classroom and to the library and kept refusing. They called my mom. She shows up so angry that they called her at work for this stupid bullshit. She says that she was not aware they were doing this to me and would never have given permission. She said something along the lines of you just want her fingerprints to identify her dead body when you fail at your job.
She then let me out of school for the rest of the day and I got ice cream. I was always encouraged by her to question authority constantly. Sure, she got a lot of phone calls but man, she put a stop to a lot of crap. She would also let me decide what school trips to go on because I insisted so many of them were just attempts at brainwashing and I'd rather stay in the empty classroom and read a book.
