I came across a post from a mason maybe in GAW about the organization being a scapegoat, and I agree in large part. That being said, one can't claim to know the intricacies of the organization if they've only just been raised as a master mason. It's like getting a white belt in karate class when we were 8 years old. It's like "great. you showed up, congratulations" it's just a place to drink and BBQ and get away from the wife for most of them.
