I some what disagree. If you Wiki search for generic things like volcanos, Black Holes, etc.. Encyclopedia things then is is fine. Just don't go searching for history, politics, etc...
Computer Science articles on Wikipedia are top-notch. For example: You read "Founder of C++" Bjarne Stroustrup's book (2700 pages) and he spends several pages on one topic. Then you go on Wikipedia and they explain the same concept succinctly in a single paragraph.
