If they are military, why would it be necessary for them to walk in on foot? Where were they walking from? Did they get off a bus? Can we determine where this gate is and what is directly behind it?
It's possible some of them were wearing body armor that made them look bigger than they are. Some could also have been hiding weapons or other gear under their clothes.
