i know the differnce between parallel light and defused light from a local light source. its not like the mechanics of photons are the that difficult to understand to this basic level.

on one hand, the giant sun that is 90 million miles away, delivers effectively parallel light to the earth. this is space fact, as you cannot deny.
and on the other hand, we observe a small shadow, supposedly caused by the moon during a lunar eclipse, you beleive whats your been shown to be reality, and your bible verse on this matter is a diagram that tells you what you are seeing, that light comes from differnt angles from a huge sun to create a umbra and penumbra during a lunar eclipse.
so parallel light defuses around the moon. thats what you have to beleive, and its literally contridicting physics, there is the proof. using your common sense.

What else do you think I would be able to conclude from that? I guess with a spectrophotometer, I can tell you what type of gases are visible.
With simple trig, I can estimate the distance to the sun, and then estimate the size of the flares, which are probably just a few kilometres, not hundreds of thousands of miles.
