You buy AAA game for $50, but to play it with decent performance you have to buy new hardware for $500 or even more. And games are part of it and I think game makers get much more from hardware manufacturers than from game sales. High-bandwith constant surveillance streams from all end-user devices stored locally on base stations. If surveillance state need an access to that surveillance data of specific person, it just download corresponding records from base station. It is perfect scheme of total surveillance system. No need for any centralized storage for insane amount of data or giant network of high-bandwith uplinks to every base station. It is also highly distributed, so very reliable. Only thing needed comparing to 3G/4G is higher bandwidth between user device and base station and some not very large storage at base station.

Even with PCB it will be hard to distinguish, say, Qualcomm Snapdragon X24 (with 4G) from Snapdragon X50 (with 5G) ICs f.e. they have pretty similar BGA package. Gaming is largely financed by Intel, Nvidia, AMD and so on. That thing with "Guys, this is first engineering samples of our latest videocard, your new game should lag and show low FPS on that hardware" is what I personally saw (and participated, guilty :) ) already in late 90s. Still have that 3D accelerator ("GPU" was not a common term at the time) card with "Not for sale. Not FCC approved" markings on PCB as kind of museum artifact. Today it is not just occasional donating fresh hardware samples with some one-time financial grants, but also a constant direct money flow from hardware manufacturers to game developers.

I'm pretty shure that all modern games could be optimized for flawless gameplay on the decade old hardware without any serious efforts.
