I was convinced to accept the faith despite being a militant atheist in my younger years. Once you see it, it cannot be denied. It flips the world right on its place and it's no longer meaningless and absurd when you understand God is behind it all and He want's you to partake in His uncreated glory and become like Him (through theosis). As the Church fathers say: "God became man, so that man can become (like) god".
