I am proably wrong ( I often am. )

Ohio currently doesn't require driver education training for anyone over 18 years old.

But all I think this is saying that they dont need to do the education training, they can just take the drivers test, and hope they pass.

Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles Registrar Charlie Norman said 2,353 Haitian immigrants in Clark County have driver’s licenses. And to get them, he said they must provide documentation to get a license – just like everyone else.

“An immigrant attempting to get a credential, an ID or (driver's license), has to provide us with original copies of their immigration paperwork," Norman said. "We check that there at the counter, the point of service, through an electronic check with the USCIS database to verify validity and authenticity."

I think this means you have to be a valid us resident/citizen. Ohio is not a state where you can get a license without having the proper immigration papers. Places like california and some other sanctuary cities will give a license without proper documentation.

I assume the "valid documents" aka, they already had a drivers license in their home country, then they can transfer it to a ohio one. But it sounds like even if you are one of the few there who had a license, your driving skills prolly arent up to snuff here.

Gov. Mike DeWine said Haitians have limited access to cars in their home country so when they come here, they lack driver training. DeWine said he will boost opportunities for driver education and try to overcome language barriers that contribute to driver confusion.

But the article is a little hard to understand. So who knows.

I know when I immigrated to canada, I figured I would have to at least take a written test again or something.

Nope they just cut my ohio license up in front of me and issued me a nova scotia one.

Pretty random but since were talking about driving.

Her maximum sentence will be a driving prohibition and a $2,000 fine.

“Is that fair? You divide $2,000 by two people, and my mother's cost of life was worth less than, I'd say, a laptop,” said Moy.

Compare that to the canadian who pulled over in the median trying to rescue some ducks years ago.

A Canadian woman who stopped her car on the highway to rescue ducklings, inadvertently causing the deaths of a motorcyclist and his daughter, was sentenced to 90 days in jail and banned from driving for 10 years on Thursday.
