Consider Ab-ra-ham to have 'come out from' or let's say 'overcome' the Land of Canaan. Let's suppose that this indicates their common practice of ritual human sacrifice as something to drop.

The God of the Day required it. It was pretty universal.

But in the New Covenant....human sacrifice is eschewed.....denied or no longer 'required' by God and so a little play is produced to 'show them'.

An encoded play with historic if not literal significance.

Footnote:

Vulcanized rock can create glass-like material like obsidian which when chipped was the sharpest known objects in history. Ritual daggers made from it .....including meteorites, real or claimed.....were common. Game of Thrones showed this as 'Dragon Glass'. The rock in the Kaaba and under the British throne are said to be meteorites. Think Blackrock and Blackstone.
