Astrology is signal from noise.

Something rather than nothing. information.

If you had an evenly dispersed space with stars everywhere, it would be the same everywhere you look, and there would be nothing to see, no information because the homogenous space is akin to emptiness or blank canvas. Astrology is the pattern, or shape, or flower on the canvas, something which stands out, something we can see and give name to. A piece of information.

This is how consciousness works. Perhaps you've heard "In the beginning there was the Word".

The word is signal, it is pattern, it is shape, it is flower, it is existence rather than nothingness.

And now to take this system of signals and symbols, and applying it to the birth of a child, is very meaningful, it is the de-facto information or "world state snapshot" of how everything was upon that birth. That's why people's "sign" / astrological symbol has always been a factor. Because these are some of the only things we can define a person by. What stars (information) were in the sky when this person was born. A cosmic piece of information about that person.
