Edit - frankly I could go either way on banning individual topics, I think what would be preferable is just instituting some kind of “low quality posts will be removed, in a transparent and appealable way” blanket approach. Because the problem isn’t really “flat earth” in and of itself, it’s forum sliding and subterfugic implosion of real discussion. Even if the topic got banned, the real shills would just switch to another topic like “loli” freedom of speech (seen a few discussions on that on other wins like KiA and gaming) or some other equally ridiculous bullshit and the “useful idiots” would start bleeting about chinese spy balloons or whatever the shiny thing that week was
