I'm not a mod but it may be that handshakes are prevented from upvoting. The reason for this would be to thwart vote manipulation. It is great that no email is required here, but it makes it easy to create bot brigades.
Correct.
So how long until it goes off?
When your account has 50 points
Ok, thank you!
If I may ask, does that mean 50 point by comments + posts collectively, or just 50 comments points, or just 50 posts points?
Thank you for the explanation, it sounds reasonable!
And you're the second person talking about this "handshake"... Am I missing something here? I know I am really bad at this IT stuff, but where can I view this handshake, you talk about? Please, if you can help me here, I would greatly appreciate it.
You should be able to see a little hand next to some of the accounts here, even on this thread. I am not sure if you see it on your own, but I see it on yours. This just means that the account is new. After a certain amount of interaction / points and whatever, it will go away.
These new accounts have certain limitations to limit botting activity, like I said.
Oh, my... You're so right. I can't believe I never noticed it. Probably because it's light gray...
Yes, indeed. Even when I put my mouse over it is shows "Joined recently"... Oh... :D I feel so stupid. And it does look like a handshake.
Thank you very much for this!
And I understand the point about new accounts and spamming, no contest there. Thanks again!
