You raise good points, but im talking about things like mental archetypes - for example, I think all that stuff about The Hero’s Journey isn’t just being imposed on us by them, but it is encoded into us deep down somehow. I agree with you about all the “physical symbols” (like the black cube, the hexagon/hexagram, 666, etc etc) - those are in a sense arbitrary and being imposed on us. But what do you think about the mental symbols? The alchemical works as the dissolution and reformation of ego, the hero’s journey, the “sky-father/earth-mother” idea that shows up everywhere, the active-masculine-yang / passive-feminine-yin dichotomy that shows up everywhere, the idea of “as above so below”, that our world is an imperfect mirror of a divine world, and other things along those lines? Do you also see those as foisted upon us?

It is a big question, if mental archetypes depend on DNA or education or both.
If they are purely virtual, then they are not different from symbols and could be acquired or eliminated with will.
If they have roots in DNA (blood, if you wish), then things are not that easy.

I don't quite get what you mean under "mental symbol". Some patterns like "American dream" or "Communist future" that was created in people minds or something else. In the first case they are not any different from regular symbols - they work only for those who for whatever reason believe in them. As soon as one disappointed, it stops work.

You can't make below like above if you have nearly no clue about how things are above, and barely understand how things are below.

To be able to make "as above, so below", you have to study how things are above in the first place to really "know", not "believe" or "think that you know". If you don't have proper and detailed blueprint, then you will never be able to make something.
