The Odyssey was a Greecian Adventure story as history of the expansion of Western civilization and culture and its contact with other lands. The fact that those lands became somewhat 'Hellenized' is a stick in the craw of certain factions and elements who continue to identify with historic events and narratives. (Bohemian Phillistines :) So they wish to untie what they see as a Gordian Knot they themselves helped to entangle.They pretend to own the narrative.
In the end, it becomes a reveal/admission of attempts at social engineering. This is what theater has been (behind the scenes) since it's beginning. Interesting point in fact......'public theater' began when sailors would return to the docks and tell their tales of adventure...often provided with a marooned ship's deck as 'stage'.
His embellished tales became the talk of the town and the subject of writings. As such, it was effective as 'propaganda' and so in this strange way, the beginning of the enter-twining of 'information' about foreign involvements (Intelligence) and the disclosure to the public (entertainment 'news') began and grew.
The beast changed appearance and names, but it operates today in much the same way as always .It now masquerades as Hollywood/The Internet (influencers).
