Reading the Illiad and Odyssey are no longer part of many High School curriculum. Not even in the Honors or AP courses.

Those that insist on keeping the Illiad and Odyssey in their curriculum, will probably just show the movie "Helen of Troy" and the new "Odyssey" movie in its place.
