The real fact that matters imo is that the war is in their territory and very far from US land.
Which mean they have the upper hand when it comes to logistics and transport economics.
Clearly this isn't a factor with less advanced countries like the many in the middle east the US cleared out before.
But Iran is an actual power, however small.
Plus this stuff is really bad on the world stage, if the US really want to destroy iran it will take a holy shit amount of resources, and would destroy any credibility they got left as the "defenders of freedom".
All in all for how easy Trump wants to make it sound, the reality is that taking down Iran is going to be a huge harakiri for US politics.
