Sub-saharan Africans had one of the most resource rich parts of the world all to themselves for hundreds of thousands of years. And yet, for some reason, they were still living in mud huts and stabbing each other with crude spears when we discovered them. Odd.
They were geographically isolated and therefore not able to develop because of the Sahara and other barriers. Do you think the barbarian tribes of Europe would have been able to develop if they were separated from Rome?
European barbarians managed to develop agriculture, animal domestication, the wheel, and writing before Rome even existed. So yeah, they were able to.
Subsaharan africans and native Americans were all literally able to do the same things before Rome. Without its proximity to Rome, Western Europe would be nowhere as nearly developed.
Subsaharans never created any of that stuff, it was all brought in by more developed people from the north.
