I don't have research at the ready about commercial planes but I don't offhand see why the chemical canisters couldn't be fitted to any plane.
It would also make sense to use commercial because they cover the world, daily. It would be efficient.
I'm sure they could be fitted to commercial planes but then we should see them, right? Or if they're hidden the people who work on the planes should be able to tell us about them. And there should be blueprints, instructions on changing them and other documents that would prove they exist. But so far I haven't found one credible document or whistleblower.

This is a straw man. That might be the weakest version of the chemtrail claim, but it is far from the only or even the most commonly made version. We should be steel-manning our “opposition” in this forum, otherwise we’re basically just ranting retardedly like they do on r/Atheism
I'm not trying to make a straw man, I'm just saying that's the claim I'm always hearing. People pointing to your average white line in the sky and saying that's a chemtrail. That's what they do in this documentary, and they say it's obvious because they don't immediately disappear. Maybe they don't say it's most planes in the sky, but they imply it's a good proportion of them and it definitely includes commercial flights.
But you kind of are…the topic is about chemicals being released into the atmosphere which have unknown and potentially harmful effects to humans - you respond to the topic, knowing full well that multiple governments have admitted to releasing potentially harmful chemicals into the atmosphere (i.e. “geoengineering”), but instead of acknowledging that reality and operating within it, you present this other reality (“mUh contrails aren’t chemtrails! MUh secret program to outfit all commercial airliners with secret chemical releasers is unbelievable!”) which no one (here, on this forum) was asking you to believe
So what they do is fill these planes with chemicals to 'seed' the clouds, they use silver iodide, among other things, and it's harmful to life.
