I've got an elderly neighbour who doesn't do internet and I help hin with paperwork and such. It's totally doable to never use the internet if you're willing to make yourself a big enough pain in the ass.
Edit: My friends and I used to code websites, in raw html, for fun back in the late 90s. The only "downside" is lack of reach but that's exactly what makes them hard to subvert. The technical details of setting up your own systems are trivial.
