China emerged later in the game but they know how dependent they are on the West, so they leverage that weakness by sticking closer to Russia. They play both sides really.
Sure, one of the goals for the war, just like any war, is to redistribute wealth and shift Europe from an industrial economy to a net zero circular economy. Russia's not in on this though.
