Obviously he didn’t want this but do you think he was kidnapped against his will or do you think he was given certain guarantees to be taken captive?

You don't need to believe such a wild belief to reject our replacement, two things are true.
May as well claim you need to believe lions aren't cats in order to believe that lions and tabby cats have different diets.
