I think in theory this is actually a good thing for young people but the problem is the implementation. I assume they’ll be doing some kind of identity check and that of course is dangerous territory.
Sure you can just use a vpn for now but eventually it’s gonna be hard to find a vpn location that doesn’t require id.
Kids will switch to social media that doesn't require DID, ie sketchier sites. I remember my friends in high school all got free geocities sites and setup message boards to talk to each other.
It'd be nice if this got more young people interested in making their own sites, but they have so little technical aptitude that I doubt it.
