Exactly. Carbs and starches should be used sparingly. I remember the Adkins crazy in the mid-2000s and how Harper's ran that hit piece which lead people to think Adkins "died of his own diet" (he didn't).
If that trend had continued, Americans would be way less obese today and we would have a lot better low carb food options.
