What I tell everyone is that, if you're going to criticize the Talmud, don't use telephone games that go back to 19th-century German; instead criticize what is actually there, its superstitions about demons, its heartbreaking casuistry, and its virtue-signaling systemic amnesty for the Jewish offender. But to say it's "pure evil" when it has thousands of comparatively decent rulings that have an important place in the development of morality is to judge it without knowledge.
