When you have a huge amount of energy, you could create matter from it.
Matter creation happens as creation of particle-antiparticle pair when very high energy photon or other particle interact with matter.
Let's simplify things and say we have power to produce photons with energy of 2GeV. This is enough to create proton-antiproton and electron-positron pairs. Proton with electron is an hydrogen atom, Antiproton with positron is antihydrogen atom. Also, we could get neutron-antineutron pairs too, and create more complex atoms.
So, with enough energy we could produce useful atoms. Then we coud use it as classic fuel to fry eggs or combine it with another atoms, say oxygen and get water, or say carbon and get whole variety of hydrocarbons. Creating and combinng different atoms we could get any molecules of chemical substances we could wish. Combining molecules in certain order we get real things we need.
Well, to create things in that way we need enormous amount of energy. But that's not the problem, because for each particle we create, we get an antiparticle as byproduct. And combining antimatter with any matter we get annigilation that produce same enormous energy we spent to create matter we need.
The whole cycle of making goods from anything will look like
- energy -> matter + antimatter
- matter -> goods we need
- antimatter + anything ( garbage or, say, soil ) -> energy
here we need only to compensate energy losses, and resolving technical question of efficiency it could be relatively moderate amount.
If a person have a powerful energy source, then this person could have anything he need for life, regardless of environment, up to space and other planets.
Then, the whole concept of money, profit and so political and economic power, which are foundation of modern world become null and void. You don't need money if you could make anything you want by yourself. Moreover, you don't need government, economy, trade and all that stuff. You don't even need protection from any third-party, because nobody need to stole anything from you, and you could have enough firepower to stop some insane idiot who didn't yet get that it is a bad idea to attack a person who could have a power of a nuclear bomb in his pocket. So the question of mentally ill idiots who can't live without bothering others will resolve itself quickly.
Not hard to imagine that there is no place for modern elites in such world. They will become just regular people without any power and fame, because they have no any merits. And that is why elites afraid of any real techological progress, and trying hard to divert human ingenuity into different shitty directions posed as "progress" like "AI", EV, "green energy", economy, social networking and so on.
Destruction of modern clown world order should begin with development of personal independent power source with a power output up to few megawatt. You are mistaken about free time, being right about everything else. People have much less free time, than before. In the past, most people was peasants, and peasants job is seasonal. Yes, they had periods of hard work, but at least winter was mostly free time. Few of modern people could allow three months vacations.
Moreover, current level of technology allows earning more that enough wealth to live a week in only two or three days. This is "fixed" by employers, permanent inflation, taxes and financial crisises to force you work more to earn a decent level of living.
Well, this could be kind of cultural differences, but here boredom is an absence of interesting occupation. Most people can't stand idling more than few days. It's extremely boring and mindblowing. Basically it is a torture, to do nothing. That's why I don't see any problem in absence of a need to work hard to earn somenting to survive. There always some occupation could be found. If you need to be forced to work to keep you from sinful thoughts, then something is wrong with your brains.

I'm aware but peasants still had way less leisure time and didn't live to get retirement and do jack shit all day. Times were rough and death, war and starvation were common occurance. You had to fight for your existence and natural selection worked full force.
In comparison, most people today have 4-6 hours of free time during the day. In the degenerate west people have it so easy, that they can literally live in their own made up reality and pretend to be the opposite sex and even get medical help for that. In the past mental illness meant death, now they run parades. Not to mention how much easier everything is made through technology, transportation and the internet. You can practically exist without leaving your room and all your basic needs will be met.

I doubt that. This 4-6 hours they don't work or sleep spent mostly to do home job - buy food, cook it, play with children and all that stuff. This is not free time. Also you miss a huge part of human activity that could not be covered by any replicators. You still have to make family, grow and educate your children, grow real food and not because you can't make it, but because it is in human nature, and so on.
Again, the society where all material needs are covered by tech in no way will be a paradise, it will still be a society with good and evil and a fight between them, just a different one, where people are free from material needs yoke and have more than enough truly free time to choose their path. There will be other virtues and merits. Some will become vegetables, some will not. Those who will not become vegetables will move humanity forward.
With current system we stuck in the deadend where elites have power to control nearly everything and dictate their terms for us.
