I think a huge part of the reaction is made up. I haven't heard anyone in real life say Kirk deserved it, but it feels like 20-25% of fake people (media, internet comments) are celebrating.

What does this do? Makes people scared, makes them suspicious, makes them want to tribe up under a charismatic leader (and here comes Shapiro, right on schedule).
