a) Nature privatizes (ones perception) knowledge (all perceivable)...few make artifice (suggested) public (consent).
b) Consenting to a suggestion implies "a call noting one's move has placed his opponent's king" aka a check within chess, which is why "You better check yo' self before you wreck yo' self"...
