Some of them are just having the time of their lives god forbid.

I think you may be looking at it kinda in a glass-half-empty way.

Maybe they could climb trees all day for none of the appreciation and 1/100th of the money to be happy?

Jeez!

And as far as predators, only the Majors are super predatory, small labels are notoriously awesome, at least in the indie scene anyway.
