Recommendation is to wipe out non-persistent malware that doesn't survive reboot.
By this logic NSA has persistent malware for all phone platforms. Nothing new.
GrapheneOS sends hello.
Sad part is that like all things, you can secure your self with an OS and filters, etc... but the moment your communicated data leaves your space, its unsecured. We live in a tin can string to a bull-horn society.
I have personally experienced this. We had to put work apps on our phones, and one day my information would not transmit. I messaged a boss and he said “try cutting off the wifi”. I said “okay, but I’m not on their wifi”
Long story short, yes I had been slammed into the location’s wifi that I was visiting. Then it multiplied into three different apps we had to have, sending tons of information back and forth, (I had never signed in to anyone else’s WiFi)
I ended up buying a cheap Motorola WiFi phone to do my work on, and make sure my WiFi on my personal phone is cut off everywhere but home.
Insanity. That’s a security flaw for our own government
Our government IS the security flaw.
