Here is rumors that something near that base was hit, not base itself. At least those who are in service on that base say so.

Also, pressure for shooting Israeli planes grows, since it is obvious that Israel is "unfriendly country". From the other side bureaucrats argue that there is a lot of dual Russian citizens in Israel, so until laws allowing repealing of Russian citizenship from dual citizens in certain cases will be adopted (they are in development now) it would be legally wrong to actively attack country where are lot of Russian citizens formally.

In any case, Russian government long ago choose side in ME, and it is not Israeli side. So, it is just a question of legislation and bureaucracy inertia when Russia become more active.

However, there is another question of higher level rises. If Israel disappear, then it is not clear how to get rid from unneeded jewish liberals who are mudding water here. Today, they run to Israel on even minimal pressure and problem solved. If there is no Israel, emigration will be much more complex for them, because only Israel today accept and grant citizenship for the Jews from Russia without questions, tons of paperwork and waiting time. :)
