I think it's manipulation of the electromagnetic waves or radio frequencies to detonate electronics, like an emp but not and I think they have AI lighting the way.

That requires an impossible isolation to not trigger all devices in proximity. It was 100% explosives.
I agree, it could target by the unique identification each device possesses
If it can be done, I would wager it could be directed.
I would think it's device specific
