I don't know what evidence you are expecting - are you not to believe anything unless you hear it directly from the candidate? Then, with respect, what are you doing on a conspiracy website?

The article came from a reputable source (nypost) the same site that broke news of Ashley Biden's diary so I would see no reason not to believe it.
