Yes, that has been known for a long time and there are various explanations for it, from the Royal 'we' which many Monarchs still use today or the Ancient Aliens thing ala Stitchin and the whole Enki, Enlil, Anunnaki saga.
In the Apocryphal texts Lucifer apparently went to this 'Council' made up of Watchers and God and bitched about why God had created man ABOVE the Angels, he was kinda pissed. The Watchers were Angels who were set to watch over mankind, but some of them rebelled, descended to earth mated with women and set themselves up as 'Gods'. God had them bound in the bowels of the earth till the day of final judgement. Their children were the Nephilim (some of the bloodlines around today). Unfortunately some of these were actually Giants who were destroying the world as they were very very hungry, and even started eating people (and we are finding giant skeletons all over the place currently).
Think of a Liger, cross between a Lion and Tiger, there was no growth hormone 'off switch' because they were 2 different species, so they grow huge and can't stop eating. Same with the Giants, they were offered up so many animals and crops the people were going hungry, and when it wasn't enough they started eating people by the hundreds. God had to deal with it in the end. The genetic lines got weaker over time and the Giants got smaller but even in Davids time there were still a few around. The main reason for the Flood, but one of Noah's son's wives was from that bloodline (think it was Ham) so it wasn't entirely erased. The later 'Gods' were the Shedim who are mentioned in Deuteronomy and even Paul in Corinthians and it's where we get the words Daimona/Demons from and the Israelites once again started worshipping them like other peoples. God had to keep bitchslapping them to get them back in line. In spite of the rewriting in the 60's to make them all seem peaceful and hippyish religions they were very much into child sacrifices and other degenerate practices (even the Druids were into human sacrifice). They were banished when Christ came as he essentially cast out these spirits. As we fell away from his message now those 'Gods' are returning. Hence what is going on in the World as they are influencing it. It's apparently going to get worse - 'as it was in the days of Noah'.

Are you aware new technology has taken another look at the Turin Shroud and they have not only found pollen that only grows only in the Holy Land (they took the sample from a repair piece previously and dated it from 13th century) and have now adjusted the date to the 1st century but technology has found a 3D encoded image of him imprinted in it. The only way they can describe it got there is a burst of contained radiation from within the body, but have no idea how it happened as current science cannot account for it. Seriously go look at the latest findings on The Shroud. They trumpeted the failure years ago, but they keep quiet about the new results and most people are unaware of new findings.

But in the end for me, it's the 'woo' which convinces me. It is peoples personal testimonies of meeting Jesus and being transformed that have pushed me to his side and made me realise I'd been led up the garden path.
I discovered Steven Bancarz a couple of years ago, and he could be me in what he taught and believed. Even his attitude to Christians. Except I wasn't getting 40k a month in ad revenue, or thousands for teaching at seminars, I didn't have a beautiful house and fancy sports car from my earnings. His personal encounter with Jesus was so powerful and undeniable to him he gave it all up. Emailed his 90,000 subscribers and told them of his encounter and that what he had been teaching was deceiving. Needless to say he got a lot of hate back and lost 97% of his income. Had to sell his home and car and give up his rich lifestyle without regret. Must have been a powerful encounter with no room for doubt to do that. He now helps expose the New Age especially as it is creeping into Christianity.
People who have a lot to lose, whether homes and riches, or family and their very lives (Muslims) speak strongly to me because humans are essentially lazy and will always take the path of least resistance if they can.
So for me, the texts are merely helpful to try and understand what went down but in the end it's always the Personal testimonies, which sway me. If other 'Gods' and Entities/Spirits/Aliens were appearing to people and didn't actually disappear or run away when the Blood of Jesus was mentioned, I might give them consideration again. But it doesn't happen, so I'm now Team Jesus.
