The OJ simpson trial introduced at least two things into the american cultural lexicon:
-DNA and DNA-evidence
-“The N-Word”
Noone i knew ever heard of DNA before this trial. Also, everyone just said “nigger.” Or they would say, “the bad word for negro,” and then use their mouths to shape “nigger” without actually speaking the word.
What are you talking about everyone said nigger?
Like when a black man was talking about being verbally harassed by some redneck, he would say, “he walked up to me and called me a nigger!”
Instead of today: “he walked up to me and called me ‘the n-word.’
I was a teen in the 90s, 0J was too boring for me, but, people did not use the word nigger. It was way bad word then
You’re missing the point altogether. “The N-Word” as a euphemism… As a voldermort type thing…
This was proliferated by the trial.
The lawyers were grilling the LAPD, “have you ever used the N-word” and they were like… “what is that?”
Like “THE F-Word” is a euphemism for FUCK and everybody knew that one.
