Those are good arguments. I may have to research more to see if I can steelman my hypothesis. I've always wondered how they got so famous when most of their comedy is pretty cringe even for Brit standards.
Personally, I'd put this one down to alignment of interests. Tavi & co wanted programs that challenged public/cultural opinions, and those guys wanted to make a sketch show that poked fun at normative cultural behavior. That said, it's not impossible they could have received directional nudges or important themes to incorporate occasionally. But outright proving it is going to be difficult.
It'd be interesting to observe how they became famous and whether there was some msm pr push behind them or whether it was organic. Turns out many big names in 60's pop culture were intentionally promoted by the technocratic elite and many had ties to intelligence and military circles.
