Because the cat profile pics were forced on every user that didn't choose a profile pic. What part of that don't you understand?
It seems like this is something you could test yourself by creating an account and not choosing a profile pic, or deselecting your custom profile pic.
If you are really gonna be on a forum like this at some point you will need to question things for yourself and do a little research because if you are just waiting for people to tell you things you might as well be watching the main stream media.
and I mean this in the kindest way possible.
