Frankly it is a surprise how few times incidents occur with the more and more poorly trained and lowered standards of all industries over the last 20 years. Speaking with cargo ship engineers, more things like this should happen more frequently and may start appearing more common.
That aside -- would ayh put it past merchants destroying old failing infrastructure with corrupt means like some one torching their business to collect insurance? Nope.
