A 16 year old girl who had to raise her own sisters from the dirt in 1920 was way different than the child-voiced immaturity we have in many of today's females.
Romeo and Juliet laws exist in Nevada also (relative ages), where an 18 year old could have consensual sex with a 15 yr old.
Degeneracy would depend on the circumstances. Was your great grandfather a degenerate at 24 when he married the 15 year old?
