TBF, modern physics is greatly exploitive and is financially driven, entitled and vain -- surprised instead of walking across the stage to accept a diploma that they do not just have modern "scientists" perform a Barmitzvah
That's what really going with nuclear fusion since end of 60s. Every month you see articles that fusion will become energy source within 10 years. For more than 50 years same fairy tale. With many trillions of dollars spent without any practical result at all. It's like some club with state financing for close circle of people who just sucking taxpayers money for the promise they are not going to fulfill.
Interesting that young, say, high-temperature plasma scientist have nearly zero chances to be invited to that insane sinecure unless he is some relative or have connection with those who are in that club. I have few buddies who graduated from highest-ranked universities like MGU or MIFI, with goal to finally make this fusion breakthrough, but was literally kicked out as soon as they tried to apply for career in ITER project while at the same time their much dumber course-mates with specific surnames was welcomed.
