The overwhelming majority of people in this world do not want the responsibility of thinking for themselves. Thinking for ones self means making your own choices which means living with the consequences of said choice. This means that if said choice was incorrect, you have no-one to blame but yourself.

Why go through all that hassle when you can just blindly obey and then complain and blame others when it doesn't go your way?

Concerning this one, as other comments have suggested, asking the question as to whether such a decision may have been ill-advised opens Pandora's box.
