Regardless of who 'claimed' it they lived there. It was their home. Only genocide and ethnic cleansing has come from displacing an entire population from their homes.

I think Jordan was originally part of the mandate. They split it off for the Arabs but the Arabs in what is now Israel either didn’t want to move or weren’t let in.
But you are correct. There has never been a Palestine “country”. It was named Palestine by the Romans in order to mock the Jews since it meant land of the Philistines.
