While I generally agree with their explanations of biblical events, their organization's views on morality are way out of line with mine, and they seem to fall in line with other religions with their tithing requirements. What do aliens need money for?
They are way to abortion happy. Their views on having the state raise children is totally fucked up. They seem to have come up with these guidelines without understanding how corrupt human organizations become (ostensibly).
For the most part, they seem like another group that took a piece of truth as a main support column and then wove lies all around it to come up with another money-making religion.
We believe that humans must evolve out of any need for money – and also any will to power. The tithing/gift-giving goes towards building an embassy for the Elohim, and towards the expenses of the organization (Rael's expenses, support staff, website, etc.). We have to acknowledge that we live within a monetary system while trying to spread the messages. The money also allows people to attend the seminars for free.
Ideally, there wouldn't be any need for abortion, but our birth control tech is still primitive and largely harmful (I think intentionally), and I'm not sure where you're seeing that "the state" should raise the children. We feel that childcare and education should be a communal experience (which, it is now, but not with the benefit of the child in mind), but parents are definitely the stewards of their offspring. You have to remember that any discussion of "the state" in terms of the Elohim is a governing structure that is focused on the good of all, without money and power, valuing intelligence, love, freedom, the individual and peace.
His book Intelligent Design ties in the "genetic experiment" part of your observations with the only explanation of the Old Testament that makes any sense.
