It was, its now owned and operated by a college. I posted about this maybe 6 months ago? Someone took a drone shot and posted in r/conspiracy and I felt like sharing. Looks like a semi wafer or something from above.
The college has been operating it for a few years now. Why let all that potential research go to waste, im sure the military can squeeze another application or two out of it.
Its silly to think that the government would give up an ability like this so easily. My guess is that after decades of use and research, they probably made them small and powerful enough they can be mounted on satellites.
I still often think about those strange radar anomalies coming out of Antarctica years ago.

tbh I always thought it was designed for something else besides weather modification and that was the cover story. might take a fresh look into
