well let's see some of these white marble statues that have any paint on them.. from what I've always seen is they're totally white. Meanwhile, Egyptian stuff totally has most of the paint still on it. And that's way older.
Egypt were not exposed and were inside pyramids. Greeks on another hand where destroyed cause they where idols. Knossos though had better techniques that where lost and have colors.
I am greek and we know our history, due to intensive weathering and other effects on the stone, the polychromy on Ancient Greek sculpture and architecture has substantially or totally faded. Don't forget those statues are over 2500 year old, color fades with time
